068: Robert Elliot, Marine Veteran, Founder of Cypress Hall FarmsMarch 15, 2016 by Cigars and Sea Stories | 1 Comment
On this episode of Cigars and Sea Stories, Marine veteran Robert Elliot joins Mike and Sebastian for some smoking and joking. Rob served as a mechanic in the Marine Airwing. He bounced between a variety of duty stations along the way.
Now he helps veterans who are interested in agriculture, learn the ropes as farmers utilizing a number of different types of technologies. Cypress Hall Farms is where he works and educates others on growing methods for vegetables, pigs, chickens, and mushrooms; Routinely people will ask for him to run workshops on how to grow high demand shrooms for restaurants.
Get a hold of Rob if you are interested in becoming a farmer or if you want to link up with another veteran who can mentor you.
About Cypress Hall Farms
Cypress Hall Farms is run by Michelle and Robert Elliott. Michelle, who is a nurse, is the green thumb and resident chicken expert here on the farm. Her dream of leaving the hustle and bustle of mainstream life has been found here on the farm growing the most delicious heirloom vegetables under the Carolina sunshine. She breathes life into any soil and is the go-to person for anything dealing with the chicken flocks.
Robert is a Marine veteran who came home to help with the farm. Never in his wildest dreams would he have believed that he would raise poultry and love it, but he now lives the dream. He is the resident carpenter, electrician, plumber, roofer, engineer, and general problem solver (not to mention the muscle of the operation).
We look forward to getting to know you. Please call us and schedule a time to come take a tour.
