Shawn Rhodes, Shoshin Consulting
Shawn served from 2001-2005. He was a, self-proclaimed, super-pogue.
Have you ever run into one of those Marines during deployment? Or on a field op, who was running around with a camera? Exposing your position and looking generally lost? That was Shawn. Shawn was a combat correspondent; he shared the stories of Marines deploymed to Iraq in 2003 and 2004. His work has been featured in hundreds of news outlets including TIME, CNN and NBC. Today, Shawn works with companies to accelerate strategic execution while reducing their costs. Also as an international keynote speaker, nationally syndicated columnist and Fortune 100 consultant; Shawn shares what he learned in his TEDx talk and new book Pivot Point: Turn On A Dime Without Sacrificing Results. Shawn is also involved with helping veterans transition from college into the workforce.
Shoshin is a concept in Zen Buddhism meaning “beginner’s mind“. It refers to having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions when studying a subject, even when studying at an advanced level, just as a beginner in that subject would. The term is especially used in the study of Zen Buddhism and Japanese martial arts.
