140: GI Bill

On this episode of Cigars and Sea Stories, Mike and Bennett have a recount of the veteran weekend events to include a discussion on the GI Bill benefits. There is reason to believe we, as veterans, should have more control over our benefits; especially the GI Bill. If we’d like to use that money to invest in ourselves, we should have the freedom to do so. An example would be certification courses outside of the traditional college routes. ¬†Entrepreneurs should be able to use the money as capital in starting a business. (Easier access to capital would sure jumpstart this economy) No matter what you choose to do with your GI Bill, the argument is the same, it is your GI Bill. What you choose to do with it is up to you.

GI Bill

There are a lot of amazing programs you can use your benefits on. Some vets have used their bill to get helicopter lessons to work in the commercial sector. However, the bill is still limited in scope and it can be extremely difficult to get the necessary paperwork in order. All part of the game. Give us your comments on the episode and any experiences you’ve had, good or bad, in navigating the GI Bill system.
