174: DesertsMarch 21, 2017 by Cigars and Sea Stories | Be the first to comment »
On this episode of Cigars and Sea Stories Bennett and Mike are talking about…the desert. Sand, dust, sun, rocks, Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, 29 Palms. Dry desolate areas of the globe that are perfect for fighting in. Or at least that’s where all the recent wars have been fought. It’s always some place truly miserable. Such as in Helmand Province Afghanistan where they boast a phenomenon called the “100 days of wind”, it’s really quite god awful. The trusty neck gaiter can get you through most sandstorms but there is something about the Helmand dust that just cuts right through any respiratory protection and infests the nostrils and throat. That kind of accumulation makes for some serious loogies. Anyone who has spent longer than a week in the Mojave knows what it’s like to have a sinus sandbox. -RAH!
