Memorial Weekend Recap
On this episode of Cigars and Sea Stories, Mike and Bennett recap the events of the Memorial Day weekend. Mike was in DC for the GI Film Festival and Bennett was hanging out with family. The holiday is a remembrance of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Marines honor their dead by remembering the good times, having a drink and, sharing sea stories. When that’s done some of us go tearin’ ass down country roads in a sick 66 Mustang. Mike had such an opportunity while visiting, fellow Marine, Wade Spann. They were hanging out with veterans from all branches of service. Smoked hog, crawfish, corn hole and live music with a veteran front man playing lead guitar.
The two linked up with Chase Milsap, founder of Ronin Rufugee Project. Chase is a Marine officer turned green beret operator (we interviewed him not too long ago). He’s doing great things for foreign veterans abroad. His National Geographic feature, “The Captain“ was presented at this year’s GI Film Festival. We The whiskey tasting after party was fantastic, nuf said.
There were flags and tributes as well but that’s for everyone else.
Memorial Day weekend is a time for the tribe to reunite. Family matters, brotherhood is something different.
